Biography

Dana Fiatarone raised the bar for kicking in the Attleboro area in the mid 1990’s.  While most teams were accustomed to the straight on conversion kicks and short field goals barely clearing the crossbar, Bishop Feehan was a threat to score anywhere within 50 yards with Dana lining up for the kick.

At 5’9”, 140 pounds, while Dana contributed periodically at wide receiver and defensive back, it was his right leg that would put Feehan on top at the end of some key rivalry games.  Following a winless season at Bishop Feehan, Dana started as a sophomore on a 6-4 team which would be the first of nearly 15 straight winning seasons at Bishop Feehan.  He would routinely be the first one out to practice and the last one to leave, preparing for virtually any kick scenario imaginable.

While there were certainly plenty of PAT’s and field goals along the way, there are two field goals which stand head and shoulders above the rest cementing Dana’s place in Bishop Feehan lore.  The first was the opening game of Dana’s senior season in 1994 against an always strong North Attleboro team.  After Feehan blocked a punt, Dana battled through a bout of leg cramps and kicked the game winning field goal with 30 seconds left to give Feehan a 17-15 win.  This was all on a ground ball snap from center that Hall of Fame member and holder Brett Poirier handled with Dana having the composure to maintain his focus and drill the ball through for the win. 

Just a couple of weeks later, Dana was at it again, kicking the game winning field goal with 23 seconds on the clock to beat Attleboro on the road in a game which ultimately decided which team would go to the Division 3 Super Bowl that year.  With that kick – and finishing the rest of the regular season undefeated, Bishop Feehan earned a spot in the Super Bowl that year against Mansfield.

As Bishop Feehan was having a great deal of success as a team, Dana was being recognized a great deal individually as one of the premier place-kickers in New England.  Dana was a two-time Sun Chronicle All Star, Division 3 All State, and a Boston Globe All Scholastic selection in 1994.    Dana continued his kicking at the collegiate level, playing 4 years at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.  He continued on to earn a law degree at Northeastern. Dana is married to his wife Jamie and they have 2 sons, Anthony and Michael.
