Biography

From 1990-1992, Bill Loring, was an integral part of Attleboro High School’s resurgence onto the area football scene.  The strong and powerful Loring played three varsity seasons for the Blue and White contributing on special teams, defense and offense, where he was the heart and soul of AHS’s offensive line from his center position during his junior and senior seasons.  There were many quality skilled position players that drew most of the headlines during Loring’s tenure on the offensive line. However, Bill’s own skills and unmatched technique made him arguably one of the best players to field his position at AHS.

Bill’s first varsity start came on the road as a sophomore when the Bombardiers were defeated 16-6 by eventual EAC Champion Bishop Stang.  Loring continually worked to fine tune his technique as a sophomore as Attleboro finished with a 7-3 mark (4-1 in EAC).  In his junior year, the intelligent and sure-handed Loring became the centerpiece of the Bombardier’s offensive line. Bill repeatedly man-handled the opposing nose tackle in a five man front while constantly taking the correct angles to get to the linebackers in a four man defensive front.  Bill’s former teammates remember the confidence and leadership that the always reliable captain brought to the Blue & White.  Even though he was not the most outspoken teammate, he led by example.

Billy’s greatest football memories occurred during his senior season on the gridiron.  The Attleboro High School football team captured the EAC Championship and relied on the consistent and smart Loring to make the correct line calls for Attleboro’s potent offense that averaged more than 31 pts per game.  Behind the determined Loring the Bombardiers rushed for almost 400 yards as AHS outplayed cross town rival Bishop Feehan 45-21 to capture the Elk’s Trophy for the second straight year. A week later on the road, the stellar play from Loring and his offensive line unit again dominated the line of scrimmage as Attleboro defeated Dartmouth 35-13 to clinch the EAC Title and Attleboro’s first Division 3A Super Bowl finalist.

For his outstanding play Billy was selected as an EAC All Star his junior and senior seasons, and as a Sun Chronicle all star his senior year.  Sergeant Loring currently resides in Georgia with his wife Dana, and works for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
