He is a fourth generation great grandson of one of the most famous families in the history of Attleboro. He was a captain of the first Bishop Feehan football team to ever win ten games and go to the Super Bowl. He was a prolific receiver whose coach described as “a great athlete with great concentration.” Thom (spelled with an “h”) Morin was an impact player who helped revitalize a resurgence of Bishop Feehan Football in the mid 1990’s that continues through today.
After losing the first three games of the season in his junior year, the Shamrocks embarked on a remarkable two season seventeen game winning streak. At 6’2”, 175 pounds Morin was a graceful and sure handed split end who made the most difficult catches appear routine. He was a steady and consistent performer as a junior highlighted by a 40 yard TD reception on Thanksgiving against Coyle. However, his senior year was one for the ages. In each game he made a key play that allowed the Shamrocks unbeaten season to continue. Morin had key touchdown receptions in local rivalries against both Attleboro and North Attleboro. He scored on punt returns in games against Dartmouth and Sharon and in the latter carried the ball on a 43 yard end around run that also went for a touchdown. In an important conference showdown vs Somerset, Morin made what Sun Chronicle sportswriter Peter Gobis described a “four spectacular catches” to lead the team to victory and against Coyle, he caught six passes for 119 yards and a touchdown to clinch the championship for Feehan. All totaled, Morin caught 33 passes for over 600 yards and ten touchdowns. He was named a Sun Chronicle, Pawtucket Times and Eastern Athletic All Star, and Feehan’s Offensive MVP for his outstanding performance.
After graduating from high school, Thom went on to Colgate University where he played college football and was a three year letter winner as a wide receiver for Coach Dick Biddle. Thom is currently teaching history at Medfield High School and enrolled in New England Law School. The Attleboro Area Hall of Fame welcomes Bishop Feehan’s version of Randy Moss—Thom Morin.
