Biography

J.J. Jolaoso, AHS class of 2012

When head coach Kevin Deschenes saw a young player with enough ability and talent to spend his entire freshman season in 2008 on the JV/Varsity level, he knew he had something special in the future with running back/linebacker J.J. Jolaoso. As a sophomore, Jolaoso was a regular on the field where he saw plenty of varsity time as a running back, linebacker, punter, and kick returner. He recorded a respectable 211 yards on 44 rushes, 3 receptions for 67 yards, had 8 kickoff returns, 4 tackles, 1 interception and a fumble recovery. Those all-around athletic skills were then on full display during a stellar junior season for the 8-3 Blue Bombardiers.

For his second varsity season, Jolaoso rushed for a team leading 857 yards, caught 19 passes for 333 yards, and scored a team high 17 touchdowns. From his defensive linebacker position, he was in on 44 tackles with two fumble recoveries. During that junior campaign, he was also an impact on the special teams being the primary punt returner and punter for AHS. He capped off the 2010 season with a brilliant performance against North Attleboro with 75 yards rushing, 2 receptions for 41 yards, 3 total touchdowns and a two-point conversion rush.

It would seem that the only way to really describe the honors that Jason Baker received for his spectacular exploits in 1996 is to list them: Boston Globe All Scholastic First Team, Boston Herald All Scholastic First Team, Sun Chrinicle All Star, Pawtucket Times All Area All Stars, Eastern Athletic Converence All Star, Eastern Athletic Conference MVP, AHS Team MVP, North/South Shrine Game. In addition, Baker holds the Bentley College record for the longest kickoff return of 90 yards.

Coming into the 2011 season, the senior captain was primed to perform - being one of the top returning players in the entire area. Once again, Jolaoso shined on both sides of the ball for the Big Blue. He rushed for 735 yards and 9 touchdowns while he caught 14 passes for 164 yards. Defensively, JJ was just as impactful as he was in on 49 tackles from his outside linebacker spot, returning two plus 50-yard fumble recovery returns for touchdowns. On the special teams’ side, he returned punts, kicks, and served as the Bombardier punter for a third consecutive season. Jolaoso was a three-year two-way starter, and won the awards of team MVP and Sun Chronicle all-star as a senior. JJ was not ready for his football career to be over after his time at Attleboro High School, as he walked on and eventually won a football scholarship for the Division 1 University of Kansas Jayhawks.
