Dennis Walsh has been an avid supporter of Attleboro Athletics for over 25 years. Dennis started his volunteering as a member of the chain gang in 1991 and has continued giving back to his alma mater for a quarter century highlighted with his work on the new stadium and weight room projects in 2013. A steadfast supporter of the stadium, Dennis lobbied the merits of the project to the Mayor, Municipal Council and School Committee and wrote grants that garnered $500,000 for its construction. The L.G. Balfour Foundation Grant of $300.000 and the N.F.L. Grassroots grant of $200,000 were instrumental in the project’s success. Dennis also worked with Principal Bill Runey, AD Mark Houle and committee member Kelly Crowley to secure the funds and in-kind donations required for the concession stand aspect of the project. Simultaneously, Dennis spearheaded the effort to raise $35,000 for the new weight room for AHS athletes. Dennis has been a quiet but staunch financial supporter of AHS athletics for decades. A longtime member of the AAFHOF Committee, Dennis worked with Hall of Famers Jim Gravel, Kevin Poirier and Jimmy Johnson to bring the Balfour Scholarship program to the AAFHOF. Now in its 16th year this program has distributed $225,000 to 212 high school seniors. A historian of AHS athletics, Dennis was a founding member and longtime co-chair of the AHS Athletic Hall of Fame. He personally researched and chronicled every AHS football, basketball and baseball game from 1924–1992 on microfilm at the Attleboro Public Library. Due to his efforts, countless AHS athletes have been inducted into the AHS and AAF Hall of Fame. Over the years Dennis has assisted Attleboro youth leagues in bringing their projects to fruition. He oversaw all aspects of fundraising and construction of the concession stand at Poncin-Hewitt and wrote the grant to secure funds for Pop Warner Football’s new scoreboard. Dennis has served as a member of both the AHS Gridiron Club and the AHS Varsity Booster Club. He also served as a member of the Athletic Advisory Committee that was involved in the hiring of numerous AHS coaches over the years. Dennis also served as a member of the committee that brought Blue Pride Night to AHS. Dennis is a past president of the Attleboro Scholarship Foundation for which he has volunteered for the past 25 years. He has also served on the Board of Directors of Beta Community Services.
