Keith epitomized the North Football Player. At 5'9" 165 lbs, his hard nosed style of play at linebacker bellied his size disadvantage. Keith led the Rocketeer defense by amassing a team- leading 63 tackles, 22 assists and 2 interceptions as a junior, as a senior co-captain, be responded with 57 tackles, 21 assists and i interception, again leading the team, despite missing two games due to a knee injury. Head coach Ray Beaupre was quoted in the local paper stating, 'This team was exceptional when Keith Meyer was in the line-up. Without him we struggled" More impressively the Meyer-Jed defense of '87 held 7 opponents to one touchdown or less and surrendered only 69 points all year. With a healthy Meyer in the line-up, North registered a 34-0 shutout of Attleboro to finish the 1987 season with a respectable 7-3 record.
Keith doubled as a powerful offensive guard, blocking for a variety of North carriers, including Hall of Famer Mark Newport.
Keith's outstanding efforts earned him a spot on the 1987 All-Hockomock League Team, of which he was selected captain. He was also selected as a Sun-Chronicle All-Star in both his junior and senior years. His selection to the division ill Boston Globe AU Scholastic Team was a perfect ending to his high school football
career.
