Drck Beaupre made invaluable contributions to the North teams which lost only two games in two years in 1944-45. As a fullback, he handled crucial blocking assignments for the Rocketeers· quick-breaking formations. As the safety man on defense, he was the last defender between his team and the goalline. a chore he performed with great effectiveness. as witness his interception of an Attleboro pass on the Bombardiers' final attempt to overtake North in the memorable 14-12 Rocketeer win in 1945. But it was the kicking game where Dick made his most vital contributions. Punting consistently for more than 40 yards. he regularly bailed the team out of tight situations. His goalline punts to midfield rescued the Rocketeers from calamity against both Altleboro and Durfee in the two hardest-fought games of the '45 season. In addition, he resurrected the dropkick. and booted three of them for extra points against Mansfield. The very model of the team player. Dick exemplified the sportsmanlike qualities that characterize the membership of the Hall of Fame.
