Mike Turgeon was an outstanding three year, two-way football player in 1974, 75 & 76 on Coach Tom Crowe's tough, defense oriented Bombardier teams. With lotS of talented players but no superstars, those Attleboro teams looked to a hard-nosed defense to keep the opponents in check. At 5'6" and 160 lbs, Co-Captain Mike Turgeon was the defensive "giant" who led the Bombardiers with his tough, aggressive style of play. Mike was blessed with great quickness and superb football instincts. As a junior All Sun District selection at safety, Turgeon was praised for "bis brilliant safety blitzes and his sure tackles". As a senior linebacker, Coach Crowe called Mike "one of the best linebackers I have ever coached. He has excellent strength and toughness. When he hit people they went down on the initial hit". In a tough 12-7 win over Franklin, Mike made a big hit and fumble recovery on the Attleboro 1 yd. line to preserve the victory. Later, Silver Lake's Tom Clough. "who had 4 TD's the previous week, was held to 29 yds. by Turgeon and Blanchette". And, in a very big 14-13 win over New Bedford, Mike's pass interception led to Attleboro's game winning TD. The versatile and athletic halfback led AHS to a 25-6 win over Durfee when he rushed for 103 yds., kicked 3 PAT's and intercepted a pass.

A first ream AH SE Conference selection in 1976, Mike was cited "as a small but fearless tackler, he accounted for at least half of the Bombardier stops this fall, in addition to his outstanding tour at running back. He had the great knack for warding off blockers to reach the ballcarrier".
