Although he was listed as a fullback on the 1967 and 1968 Attleboro football teams. Ken Furtado possessed the elusiveness and speed of a halfback. In 1968, the Bombardier Co-Captain performed brilliantly on offense and defense while leading Attleboro to a fine 6 and 3 season. The team's leading ground gainer and scorer with 10 touchdowns, the versatile Furtado was consistently cited by Coach Jim Cassidy for his outstanding defensive play from the linebacker spot. The hard running fullback was brilliant as the leading rusher in early season victories over Foxboro and Yoke. He was the star of the day in a big win over Stang as he ground our 157 yards and two touchdowns of 11 and 43 yards. In a win over Coyle. "the running of Ken Furtado was sensational." Ken scored on a three yard plunge and later on a 39 yard gallop called ""the most sensational run of the season." Ken capped an outstanding Attleboro career by scoring the lone touchdown in a hard fought 6 to 0 win over North Attleboro.
