As Wally Cryan, this young sportscaster painted vivid word pictures tor Attleboro Area radio audiences in the Fifties and Sixtres. Wally knew the Attleboro area sports scene intimately, and his knowledge informed his work as football and basketball play-by-play announcer for WARA. Players and fans alike retained fond memories of his crisp and accurate reporting after he left WARA to begin a distinguished career in 1967 as news director and anchor for WPRI-TV in Providence, where he enjoys celebrity status throughout the Ocean State and Southeastern Massachusetts. A graduate of Boston University with a BA degree in communications, Walter maintains his local roots, residing in North Attleboro with his wife of 38 years, Ruth, and two of their nine children.
