Dan Delvecchio played a key role for the Rocketeers during the 1974 and 1975 seasons. The 6'0" 170 pound fullback was an important cog in an offensive machine that won 18 of 21 games in two years. Dan was a two way starter on the 1974 undefeated Super Bowl team and was a captain of the 1975 Rocketeer eleven. A one time during his tenure as a starter North enjoyed a 22 game winning streak.
As a junior Delvecchio averaged more than 6 yards per carry, scored 4 touchdowns, and caught 5 passes. He was "Mr. Inside" in North's devastating wishbone attack. Against Oliver Ames, in a game which would decide the Hockomock League Championship, Dan scored two touchdowns. The first of which was a 37 yard run in the third quarter to break a scoreless tie, and spur North on to a 18-7 victory. The following season Dan scored 6 more touchdowns in helping his team to a 7-2-1 record.
Delvecchio's accomplishments on defense were equally important. In his junior year from his safety position Dan had 32 tackles, 33 assists, and 2 interceptions. His two best performances on defense were in the 1975 season. Dan was immense in a hard fought 13-12 victory at Mansfield. He also rose to the occasion again in the 1975 Thanksgiving game. In a hard fought 22-22 tie, played in torrential downpour, Dan was the defensive star for North. In a game which ended with Attleboro on North's 3 yard line.
Delvecchio was recognized for his accomplishments on the gridiron by being selected as a Hockomock League All Star. Dr. Dan Delvecchio presently resides in Stamford, Connecticut. He specializes in plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery.
