In the early 50's at Attleboro High School, Nick Haselton was known for his exploits on the basketball court but it was his superb skills as an assistant football coach that would impact the lives of hundreds of AHS athletes. A natural-born teacher and coach, Nick graduated from Springfield College in 1958 and returned to Attleboro to begin a coaching and administrative career that would last until 1994. A classic assistant coach, Nick was a great student of the game of football, was a superb teacher of the fundamentals, and was a steadying influence on players and coaches in pressure situations. Haselton's goal was to carefully teach and prepare each player for his role on the team and then step back and let him play. His quiet, professional style of coaching earned him the respect of players during a time when football coaches were facing ever greater challenges on and off the playing field.
From 1962 to 1978, Haselton combined his football knowledge with his unlimited patience and superb teaching
