During the 1965 season, Gary Dinardo, a 5/10" 170 pound sophomore emerged as a standout running back for Art Post's Red Rocketeers. He mad his debut in a hard fought 6-6 tie against Bishop Feehan. Dinardo had an immediate impact on North's ground game as he scored his team's only touchdown on a 6 yard scamper around end. Gary had good speed for a big man. Against Durfee, in a 35-13 North victory, he scored twice, one which was a 63 yard touchdown run. A week later Dinardo had several big gainers and returned a punt 47 yards in a 32-0 drubbing of New Bedford Yoke. He was an important offensive contributor to a North eleven that had a respectable season's record of 5-2-2.
Gary approached the 1966 season with great expectations. Unfortunately, injuries that he suffered in a automobile accident limited his playing time. He returned for the last two games of the season giving North's offense a much needed lift. Gary was a big factor in a surprising 19-6 upset of Attleboro. He scored a touchdown and a was one of the team's leading ground gainers.
Dinardo's senior year got off to a great start. The Rocketeers had big wins over Stang and Taunton to start the season. In a hard fought 22-14 loss to Bishop Feehan. Gary's running was a big factor early in the game. However, a knee injury would put him on the shelf for the remainder of the season.
Although injuries hampered his career Gary Dinardo was a fine two-way football player for the Red Rocketeers.
