Milt Candelet was the father of five Red Rocketeer football players (Ronald-'62, Gary -'62, Robert -'63, George -'81 and Lindley -'81) and grandfather of Kevin Candelet (AHS Class of '85). He made a number of contributions to North Attleboro athletics, but his greatest legacy is the Monday Night Gridiron Club that he helped to establish in response to huge budget cuts that threatened the North Attleboro H.S. athletic program in the wake of Proposition 2 112. Originally conceived to support the Big Red Football program, the Club continues to subsidize the cost of all letterman's jackets at N.A.H.S. Milt was also active in many area youth athletic programs. He was a high school basketball referee and a founding father of an association called High School Sport Officials. In addition, he coached baseball in the Little North Attleboro League for six years and was a member of the Board of Directors for the town's Pop Warner Football prograrn as well. In fact, the Pop Warner League dedicated their 1991 football program to Milt in recognition of his many years of service. However, his wife, Charlotte, claims that he considered it his greatest honor when the North Attleboro High School Football Team presented him with its "Number 1 Fan" award for his tireless efforts to keep the high school football program alive.
