North's prolific all-purpose back contributed a school record 41 TDs and over 3,400 total yards during four seasons with the Big Red varsity. Called into action during his freshman year, Droney became North's greatest threat to score any time he touched the ball. As a freshman, Brian rushed seven times, returned two punts and nine kickoffs for 198 total yards. Then as a sophomore his yards per touch began to attract attention. Droney averaged over 9 yards on 56 carries, and caught 9 passes for 264 yards (29 yards per reception). Combined with his 18-yard average per kick return and 8-yard average per punt return, Brian amassed 900 total yards while scoring 11 TDs. He clearly played an integral part in North's 11-0 Hockomock League and Division III Super Bowl championships in 1993.

Believe it or not, Brian compiled even more impressive numbers during the 1994 season. The versatile back collected 723 yards rushing on 107 carries, another 302 yards on 18 receptions, along with 100 yards on 7 punt returns and 116 yards on 3 kickoffreturns for a grand total surpassing 1,200 yards. A study of his team-leading 16 TDs reveals that he also completed a rare feat by scoring at least one TD rushing, receiving, and returning a punt, a kickoff and an interception. In addition, he made 28 tackles from his position in the North secondary. As a senior tri-captain, Brian joined classmate and fellow Hall of Fame inductee Mark De Biasio in leading the Rocketeers to a 10-1 record and a second Hockomock League championship and Division III super Bowl appearance.

Anyone who saw Brian play remembers that he had a flair for the dramatic, and it was only fitting that his signature game occurred against arch rival Attleboro on Turkey Day 1995. Brian's third TD, a leaping catch in the end zone with one minute to play, helped seal North's 27-23 victory and earn him the L.G. Balfour Trophy as the game's outstanding offensive player. His career totals include over 1800 yards rushing, 800+ yards receiving, 120+ punt return yards and 460+ yards returning kickoffs, for an amazing 264 total points. His career defensive statistics include 47 tackles, 8 assists and 5 interceptions.

For his efforts, Brian was selected to two Sun Chronicle and Hockomock League All-Star squads and was named N.A.' s offensive player of the year as a junior. As a senior, Brian earned recognition as both a Boston Herald and Boston Globe All-Scholastic. In addition, he was selected to the prestigious Shriner's Classic. After graduation, North Attleboro's all time leading scorer went on to play football and earn his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Rhode Island.
