He had soft hands, quick moves, and superb coordination-the ideal receiver in a passing oriented offense. However, as a captain and tight end in Feehan's vaunted wishbone offense of the mid 1980's, he was called upon to use his strength and power more as a blocker than a receiver. But that was Mike Levis-unselfish, competitive, and the ultimate team player. Although given the occasional opportunity to display his athletic skills as a receiver, Mike was even more valuable from his position at defensive end.
In his junior year, he was a two-way starter on one of Feehan's most productive teams which went 8-1-1 and tied with Attleboro for the League championship. In a memorable tie against the Bombardiers that season, Mike caught two passes and combined with Hall of Famers, Andy Robertson and Greg Nazarian on the defensive line in shutting down the high powered AHS offense. In a game against Wareham, he caught a 19- yard pass to set up the go-ahead TD and on Thanksgiving, his 20 yard TD reception put Feehan ahead to stay against a pesky Coyle squad. In his senior year, serving as a captain, Levis led a team whose forte was defense including shutout wins over Durfee and Dartmouth. Against Attleboro in the 1985 game, Mike intercepted a pass while going up against his younger brother, Jack, a wide receiver for the Bombardiers. However, this game is best remembered as being called off at the end of the third quarter due to thunder and lightning in a driving rainstorm. Mike's final TD reception came against Somerset and, in his last game at Hayward Field, he caught two balls while playing Coyle. For his performance in his senior campaign, Mike was named to the All Conference All-Star Team as well as being recognized as an All Star by the Pawtucket Times.
Upon graduating from Feehan, Mike attended Denison University in Ohio where he played four years of Division III football. At this time, Mike works for sporting good company and lives in North Attleboro with this wife and two children.
