Biography

In 1988 North Attleboro returned to the Division III Super Bowl for the first time since the early 70's, and one of the most unsung players on that squad was tri-captain Marc Robichaud. At 5'8" and 160 pounds, Robichaud teamed with fellow Hall of Famers Randy Silvestri, Mark Newport, and Jeff Kraskouskas to form arguably one of the most talented backfields in the history of Big Red football.

While Robichaud was often called upon to block for Newport and Silvestri, when he did touch the ball it was his versatility on offense, defense, and special teams that helped produce 9 touchdowns and numerous other big plays. On offense during Marc's junior and senior seasons he averaged 5.6 yards per carry and 23 yards per catch, while on defense he snared 5 interceptions, averaged 13 yards per punt return, and he was involved in 55 tackles.

In a thrilling 7-6 victory over Bishop Feehan in '88, Marc's diving 22 yd catch at the Feehan 14 yard line helped set-up North's winning touchdown with just four minutes to play. Against a very tough Oliver Ames team Marc's outstanding defense in the secondary helped hold OA to just 4 completions in 16 attempts, and he rushed for 2 TDs in the 30-14 victory.

During a mid-season clash of unbeaten at Foxboro, Robichaud hauled in TD passes of 9 and 77 yards among his 152 receiving yards, and in the Rocketeers 40-8 Thanksgiving Day victory over arch rival Attleboro, Robichaud started the scoring with a 27 yd TD reception, then stole the spotlight and offensive MVP honors by producing 168 yards of total offense and 2 more touchdowns as North clinched its super bowl berth.

Marc was named to the Hockomock League and Sun Chronicle All Star Teams as a defensive back, and later continued his playing career at Westfield State College.
