Inspiring leadership, loyalty and determination were the trademarks of Charles "Skip" Tramontana. At 6' 1", 195, Skip was a "fullback wanna-be" with a lineman's temperament and speed.
As a starter at guard and linebacker, Tramontana was immense, particularly on defense, where he led his teammates to a season opening 27-0 victory over Durfee.
The next two weeks proved to be a crucible for the young Shamrocks as they fell to consecutive defeats to tough Dartmouth and Stang squads. Of more concern, however, was the fact that Feehan had scored but a pair of touchdowns. After those losses, reluctantly, Coach O'Boy moved Tramontana to fullback and before you could say Bingo the Shamrocks season took off.
Behind Tramontana's running and his rock solid work at LB, Feehan shocked the undefeated and top ranked Falmouth Clippers 14-6. One week later, trailing late in the game 7-6, Feehan rode on Tramontana's back to victory as he carried 8 times in a 16 play drive to score the winning TD over Banstable 12-7.
It was deja vu against Attleboro as Tramontana carried 8 times on the games opening drive before scoring on a 3-yard blast to lead a surging Feehan squads to a 14-0 win.
Tramontana's final game was the things that dreams are made. With the score tied 7-7, Tramontana stopped Coyle phenom Omari Walker at the goal line. A play that one local scribe called "the Key" to an eventual 21-7 Feehan win. In addition to his defensive accomplishments, Tramontana carried 12 times for 131 yards. For his outstanding two-way performance, he was awarded the Balfour trophy.
Tramontana went on to attend Miami University of Ohio where he started at linebacker and was awarded the school's prestigious scholar athlete award.
