Bullet quick and rock solid aptly describes Tad Roediger of Bishop Feehan in the 1982 and 1983 seasons. The perfect complement to fullback Peter Luongo's blasts up the middle, halfback Roediger was a devastating blocker and powerful runner in the heyday of the Shamrock wishbone offense. There were none better at executing the lead or junction block on an unsuspecting defender than #35 Roediger. Additionally, Tad "toted the rock" himself with speed and daring exploding for eleven touchdowns and three two point conversions in his senior year. Among many outstanding individual performances that season was a four TD performance against Bourne where he scored an incomparable three TD's in the first period alone. This remarkable effort not only earned him "Athlete of the Week" in The Pawtucket Times and "Star of the Week" in The Sun Chronicle, but also clinched the Division II title in the Southeastern Massachusetts Conference for Bishop Feehan. Roediger was instrumental in the team's running off seven straight victories that year. He helped start the winning streak with a TD and conversion rush in a 22-15 victory over Case High School in Swansea. In a 20-0 win against Fairhaven, he carried the ball seven times for sixty-seven yards and two TD's. In his final game against Coyle on Thanksgiving, he punctuated a storybook senior year with a TD and conversion in a 26-7 victory. While his offensive contribution was enormous, Roediger was a punishing tackler on defense from his strong safety position. He was so complete as a player that many coaches felt he was better defensivly than offensively.
