Jono Graziosi was the heart and soul of the Attleboro High Football during his stellar career. Graziosi was the prototypical f ootball player, a leader to his teammates and an extension of the coaching staff on the playing field. Coach Kevin Deschenes noted, “Jono play ed with reck- less abandon, from start of the game to the last whistle. It was always full speed while understanding his responsibilities,” whether he was on offense, defense or special teams. Opponents took notice of Graziosi, too, as they would often run away from the Blue & Whi te’s talented hardnosed linebacker, only to look up and have #40 baring down to still make a tackle.
Jono finished his tenure at AHS with (166) tackles, (87) unassisted along with (2) forced fumbles and a safety. On offense Jon o enjoyed making the key block for Taylor Maynard, Luke Johnson and fellow inductee Nate Kuffrey, but Grazioso still finished with almost 800 yards of total offense, averaging just under 6 yards per rushing attempt along with (3) touchdowns and (1) 2pt conversion.
During his senior season year the 5-11’ 210 pound captain helped lead AHS to a dominating victory over Bridgewater Raynham, 39- 7. During a 76 yard opening drive, “Graziosi was stuffed at the line of scrimmage on a 3rd and 14, but he kept his legs churning a nd shed off another five would-be tacklers for what provided to be a monstrous 45 yard pickup deep into B-R territory”, as it was written i n the Sun Chronicle. The next two running plays again went to Jono, with the second carry resulting in a 7 yard touchdown and Attleboro never looked back. The win propelled AHS to win 5 of the next 6 games, beating New Bedford (19-7), Somerset (27-23), Bishop Feehan (34-14) & Barns table (20-13).
Jono’s most memorable game was his last for AHS on Thanksgiving morning in 2006, although the result was not what he wanted. D espite having the flu, Jono raised his game along with his teammates in a hard-fought loss against a strong North squad. Graziosoi was all over the field, in on almost (30) tackles and for his superman-like effort he was awarded the Balfour Defensive MVP.
Jono received league and Sun Chronicle all-star awards for his outstanding play, and would later continue his football career a t Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Graziosi joins his grandfather Harold Fuller (AHS Class of ‘52) and his uncle Brian Fuller (AHS Class of ‘79) in the Attleboro Area Football Hall of Fame.
