Don Johnson, a two-year, two-way starter at flanker and defensive back. Don teamed with Mike Redding, another Hall of Famer, to form the best receiver combination in Red Rocketeer history. In his junior year, Don earned AII-Hockomock League honors after snagging 30 passes for 519 yards and six touchdowns. As a senior, he caught 19 passes for 446 yards and four touchdowns, and carried on reverse plays nine times for 134 yards. He and brother Jack, the standout North quarterback, hooked up for three completions totaling 64 yards in North's 7-0 win over Attleboro in '78. Equally proficient on defense, Don routinely covered the opponent's top receiver. In addition, he was an excellent punter. After accepting a four-year scholarship to Holy Cross, Don played defensive back for the Crusaders and won letters in all four years of varsity competition. He is currently a member of the Rocketeer coaching staff.
