In the early 1950's, at the suggestion of YMCA Director Bill Bungard, a small group of dedicated Attleboro High School supporters founded the AHS Varsity Club. From those early meetings, and for more than 25 years, Jim Sullivan and Elsie Reid, two original members, worked diligently to provide award jackets and recognition for Bombardier football players.
Elsie, sister-in-law of Hall-of-Farner Charlie Rigby, devoted hundreds of hours each year working side-by-side with Charlie and her sister Irma to raise the money needed to buy dozens of award jackets and host the annual sports banquet. She took particular pride in providing the extensive decorations for the banquets and the early Hall of Fame dinners. Her quiet, dependable style was a source of inspiration to all those worked around her, but Elsie's pride came from doing things for other people.
